- Also remember that the MPB or PE boards aren't even used until the
- main board gets saturated; then it tries to throw some work at the
- aux. processing boards. As it was explained to me (or, as I
- recall...) when the 3B2/1000 was intro'd, the scheduler tries to
- figure out if processes are good candidates to run until completion
- on the aux. board. There's a list of system calls that it is able
- to run without dependence upon the main processor, with the caveat
- that any true physical I/O must still go through the main processor.
- Note the my experience is mostly with MPB's (mainly consists of making
- sure it doesn't smoke, and checking sar(1) every so often), whereas
- the docs I have laying around mostly talk about the PE, so if I really
- hosed up, I'm sure I'll hear about it...

- Well, you might be able to do neat stuff (Christmas decorations?) with
- 'em, but it might be hard to make 'em work as PE's again :)

- Me too!! Er, three!
-
- p.s. I'm (personally) interested in purchasing various 3B2 hardware.
- My network at home is beginning to take shape, but it only has
- Intel-based systems. I've got access to a /400 and /600 in
- various stages of disassembly, but need a variety of parts to
- actually finish. If interested, please email me at pjr@emo.com
- (work) or to pjr@squidnix.emo.com (home). Thanx.
