  33. The problem is not the price of UNIX software -- it is the limited
  34. market for UNIX software. If there was a much larger market
  35. for it, it could be made much cheaper. I'm sure the software
  36. developers would be happy to charge 1/100 the price per
  37. copy, if they could  sell 1,000,000 times as many copies.

  39. However, making UNIX software cheap will not make UNIX a mass-marketing
  40. success. There are some fundamental changes that have to be made
  41. before UNIX can make it as an operating system for a "toaster".
  42. Like, you shouldn't need a degree in Comp Sci. in order to
  43. install it :)
