  16. A quick note regarding 3B2 serial cables:  These are 8 wire cables with
  17. RJ-45 connectors on each end.  There is a "flip" in the cable, so that the
  18. pin order is reversed from one end to the other.  (Pin1 to Pin8)  This is
  19. DIFFERENT from Starlan1 and Starlan10 (10baseT) cables as well as most
  20. RJ-45 telephone cables.  Be warned!  :-)

  22. For the computer end:
  23. Jack orientation, putting it down "face down" so the locking prong is on
  24. top, and the cable comes out the back so that you are facing the "head" of
  25. the connector Pin1 is the first place on your right.  If you have factory
  26. cables, Pin1 is the place where the frame ground strap connects.

  28. For the console, contty and PORTS board the pinouts are as follows:

  40. For an EPORTS board things are the same except for the addition of:

  45. And the eports supports "hardware flow control" as well as much higher
  46. speeds.
