- I picked up one of the above-named drives recently and seem to have
- run into a problem: the heads aren't properly aligned. I poked
- around inside (the drive uses what looks like a hacked NEC 720K
- mechanism) and couldn't find anything that looked like a head
- adjuster.
-
- Does anyone have experience with these drives and know how to realign
- the drive heads? Failing that, can I just pick up a 720K mechanism
- someplace (ought to be cheap--1.44M drives sell for about $50) and
- hack it for electric eject? (I'd experiment with the 1.44M drive in
- my 286, but it uses +5V only--I think AMR's controller depends on
- changing the voltage on +12V to vary drive speed.)
