- Please be aware of the fact that the System 6 High Sierra FST has a bug
- which prevents reading text files on an Apple CD-ROM. I discovered this
- while trying to use HyperCard GS to read selected portions of an 8 Mb text
- file on a CD ROM originally intended for MS-DOS machines.
-
- I could see the files, copy some of the smaller ones to other volumes
- (where they could be read) but could not read them from the CD ROM. I
- wrote the same handler for Mac HyperCard and it read fine, so I concluded
- that the problem is in the High Sierra FST.
-
- There are also bugs in the HFS FST. Try using the installer with an HFS
- volume as the target.
-
- These FSTs are complicated and will take some time to iron out. Perhaps
- one of the good things that will arise out of the fact that there are no
- more GS CPUs in the pipeline, is that the system software can be refined
- w/o out fear of some new hardware wrinkle putting things back to square
- one. Yes, I'm a polyanna.
