- This has little to do with the orginal thread, but your mention of 8 megabyte
- RAM cards for the IIgs caught my eye! :) I'm currently running my ROM 3 system
- with 2.125 Mb, though I'd like to increase my memory size to something more
- suitable to my needs; especially once I buy a hardrive! ;-)
-
- My orginal plans were to buy the 4mb RAM-GS from Sequential Systems, but
- I just noticed an ad in InCider/A+ that CV-Technologies is offering a *new*
- 8 megabyte ramcard! Apparently it comes with 4Mb soldered on (like the RAM-GS),
- yet it has the plus side that it can be expanded to 5,6,7, or a full 8megs on
- the same card...no piggybacking or other tricks. This sounds great, and worth
- the extra $50 or so, but I'm wondering about a few things. First, how reliable
- is the card, and does it stay fully DMA compatible up to 8 megs? The other thing
- I'm wondering is, my ROM 3 has 1meg standard and adding a stock 8-mb CV Tech
- card will bring it to 5megs. Will that 5 megs be DMA compatible? I remember
- hearing the GS is only DMA with up to 4 megs ram...but what happens when there's
- 1 megabyte on the motherboard and only 4 megs in the memory expansion slot?
-
- I'd like to hear from others who've already bought this new card....
- (Btw, this is _not_ the CV tech card that was expandable to 4mb on the card,
- and another 4mb via the piggyback connector on it's side for a total of 8megs.)
