- I recently found an Apple2e in the trash area of my apartment house in
- Hayward, California. It was raining hard, and the computer looked really
- wet and cold. I felt sorry for it! It looked in perfect shape (other
- than really wet) from the outside. There was a DuoDisk, Apple Monitor and
- all the cables neatly wrapped around it. It seemed as though this was
- like the anonymous ways babies were abandoned in the old movies. I felt
- really pity for this homeless Apple2e, so I took it inside and dried it
- out for a week. I used to have an Apple2e when I was in college, and that
- machine did almost everything I needed. When I got very broke, I had to
- sell it. Boy, that was a heart-breaking event! Now, I don't have any
- startup software for this cute little machine. I've looked at it
- carefully inside, and it looks fine. There aren't any missing, damaged or
- burned chips of any kind that I can see. But, since I'm not a hardware
- kinda-guy, I have no way to knowing whether the machine is fine or broken
- completely, or anywhere inbetween. So, I'd greatly appreciate it, if
- somebody could send me a disk or two. I'd really like to have some
- diagnostic software. This is a barebones Apple2e. There's the DuoDisk
- controller card, an Epson APL card, an Apple video card (it MIGHT be an
- 80-column card, but if so, I doubt that it has additional 64K on it). I
- have no money to put into software, hardware or any repair. Can somebody
- help me out with some software? I'd really like to get this computer
- running and then give it to my sister who has three school-age boys and
- does lots of community education of poor women to help them off of
- welfare. If you can send me some software I'd really appreciate it.
