- I am a proud new owner of an A3000/25 with 6 megs of mem and a 52 meg
- HD. I was wondering about those various ways one would use to squeeze a bit
- more speed out of the system (not that I'm complaining, mind you. :) ) I've
- heard of something referring to 'VBR' which I assume stands for 'Vector Base
- Register' and has something to do with Exec. At any rate, I've heard of a
- patch for the VBR which was supposed to speed up the system somewhat. What
- exactly is this? My memory is furry.
- Another trick I've heard of is to map the ROM (2.04) to 32 bit Fast
- Mem. I'm not sure how to do this. Does it involve using SetCPU (which I don't
- have right now)? What kind of advantages does this offer?
- Sysinfo (other than confirming that I'm running at an already healthy
- speed) also 'says' (I'm not sure of the accuracy) that the Ramsey, Buster, and
- DMAC chips are all the first revision. According to the Sysinfo (3.01) docs,
- these chips had some bugs in them. Would these bugs affect any attempts to
- play with the aforementioned settings? A nuclear meltdown?
-
- Thanks in advance for any suggestions. E-Mail preferred; however, the choice is
- up to you. Aren't I nice.
