- Okay, a couple hours after posting this I discovered the solution to my problem:

- a very thorough cold boot (i.e. leave the machine off for 5 min) - duh! This,

- at least, might serve as a warning to those of you who run AMAX with WB 2.1 -

- it looks as if AMAX leaves something odd behind in RAM, somthing 2.1's

- setpatch REALLY dislikes.
