-
- I can answer for the NEC 3d hooked to an A1200...
-
- >1) can it use overscan?
-
- Yes. With DblNTSC I can use all the overscan the Amiga gives me.
-
- >2) How quickly does it change between screens of different synch rates?
-
- Somewhere between .5 and 1 second? (never really timed it, but its
- noticable).
-
- >3) How "sharp" is the display?
-
- Looks reasonable to me. The specs say its a .28mm dot pitch.
-
- >4) Are the controls easily accessible from the front?
-
- Yes, behind a swing down door are; Screen up/down, Screen height,
- Screen left/right, and Screen width. These are all digital buttons,
- not pots. Also the contrast and brightness controls are up front
- along with the power switch.
-
- The only weird thing I've noticed is that on the A1200, the DblNTSC
- and DblPAL modes need the VGAOnly monitor type as well otherwise it
- wont sync correctly. The A1200 errata sheets mention that the the
- VGAOnly monitor type is needed for VGA fixed frequency monitors.
- What it apparently does is move the horizontal scan rate from
- 27.66kHz to 29.20kHz and the vertical from 58 to 59 Hz. The Nec
- booklet claims it can sync from 15.5 to 38 kHz with 50 to 90 Hz
- verticals. Go figure.
-
- The Nec 4D I tried, on the other hand, worked fine at 27.66kHz without
- the VGAOnly monitor type. Its rated at 30kHz to 57kHz. The 15.75kHz mode
- didnt work though. :-)
