  15. I have owned an A1000 since early in 1986. It is clearly time to upgrade.
  16. I will buy either a PC clone or an A4000. Cheap PC clones can be had.
  17. It appears they have their own problems with processors outruning antiquated
  18. busses and graphics accelerators being good at windows or DOS but not
  19. both etc. As I wade through the morass of ISA, EISA, VESA VL, VGA, SVGA,
  20. etc (without the benefit of good definitions of what these specs actually
  21. mean), the seamlessly designed A4000 looks very attractive.

  23. For those of you in-the-know, I have a few questions:

  25. 1. Is the A4000 available now?

  27. 2. What is the street (mailorder?) price?
  28.  
  29. 3. Does the A4000 have a SCSI driver available yet?
  30.  
  31. 4. I have spent a considerable amount of money on software for my A1000.
  32.    (E.g. WordPerfect, Manx C, Superbase, Digiview, DeluxePaint, Logistix,
  33.    etc., etc.) Will any of this work on the A4000?

  35. 5. In general do software companies offer upgrades at reduced prices to 
  36.    registered owners of older versions of their software?
  37.  
  38. 6. Is the A4000 going to be hardware upgradable? That is, when new pro-
  39.    cessors are released or new graphics options are made available,
  40.    how easy will it be to upgrade the A4000? I know that this might be
  41.    impossible to answer. Has CBM indicated anything about the status
  42.    of the A4000 with regard to future hardware development directions?
