  16. I recently purchases a Western Digital Caviar 2200 IDE harddisk.  I have a 2000
  17. with a GVP 3050 impact series II accellerator.  The 3050 has Faastrom V 3.41
  18. (I think).  
  19. I hooked up the diskdrive and went intor fastprep and followed GVP's
  20. instructions and just did an automatic prep.  Everything appearred to work
  21. fine.  Up popped a 202M dh1: (I have a Nexus controlling a SCSI as well).  
  22. Great.  NOT.  When I copied files to the Caviar they were corrupted.  When I
  23. took a closer look at them the first 512 bytes are fine and the reast is 
  24. trashed.  Some of the bytes are correct but I couldn't find a pattern.  The
  25. file size is fine.

  27. Anyone have a clue???

  29. I tried the Caviar by itself and with the Nexus.  I tried doing a manual prep.
  30. I tried mutliple partitions.  I tried 1 buffer.  I tried using just chip or
  31. just fast ram for the buffer.  I tried many combinations but it doesn't work.

  33. I called GVP (I got through after only 10 minutes!  Honest!) and they said 
  34. "That is not one of the drives we have tested with our controller."  They
  35. suggested that I call WDC and ask them if 1) the CAV220 is IO channel ready
  36. and 2) if it uses sirus logic chip 235 (I think).  The answer to 1 must be yes
  37. and no for 2.  I called WDC and they were clueless.  Said I must send a letter
  38. so they can ask the engineers.

  40. So I hope I've given enough info for some kind knowlegable sole to help me.
  41. Has anyone got any ideas, solutions, suggestions??  Anyone ever hooked up
  42. a WDC CAV2200 to an GVP3050.  Will joan find out that tom is sleeping with mary
  43. and will mellisa marry joe or will joe join the foreign legion?  Hopefully the
  44. answer to these and other exciting questions will be forthcoming soon.
