- As a European, I never really noticed flicker on my 50Hz monitor until these
- discussions popped up originally several months ago! Now it can sometimes be
- annoying, but you very quickly get used to it (I think it helps to ensure no
- lights are shining at the monitor). If you think about the flicker, you will
- see it; otherwise it's not noticeable. If I go into NTSC or Productivity mode
- for a few minutes, and then back into PAL, it flickers like crazy, but that's
- just relative, and it settles down after a few minutes. (The extra PAL res more
- than makes up for it.)
-
- As Dave said, it all depends on what you are used to.
-
- Having said that, these new 72Hz (80Hz?) 17" monitors we have on our Mac
- Quadras in work are absolutely **gorgeous**. No flicker AT ALL, even if you
- try sneakily peeking out of the corner of your eye! It really makes the machine
- a dream to use. (The 24-bit colour and '040 speed (and 32MB of RAM :-) helps
- too....)
