  21. As a European, I never really noticed flicker on my 50Hz monitor until these
  22. discussions popped up originally several months ago! Now it can sometimes be
  23. annoying, but you very quickly get used to it (I think it helps to ensure no
  24. lights are shining at the monitor). If you think about the flicker, you will
  25. see it; otherwise it's not noticeable. If I go into NTSC or Productivity mode
  26. for a few minutes, and then back into PAL, it flickers like crazy, but that's
  27. just relative, and it settles down after a few minutes. (The extra PAL res more
  28. than makes up for it.)

  30. As Dave said, it all depends on what you are used to.

  32. Having said that, these new 72Hz (80Hz?) 17" monitors we have on our Mac
  33. Quadras in work are absolutely **gorgeous**. No flicker AT ALL, even if you
  34. try sneakily peeking out of the corner of your eye! It really makes the machine
  35. a dream to use. (The 24-bit colour and '040 speed (and 32MB of RAM :-) helps
  36. too....)
