- Subject: HELP!! Major crashes and flickering power light
- Lines: 21
-
- I'm having some troubles and I don't want to lay out a lot of money to find
- out it might not be anything at all.
- I recently purchased Civilization and installed it on my hard drive. It
- crashed often and hard, and didn't display graphics properly. On a warm
- reboot I didn't get a full boot and shut everything down. When I restarted
- the computer I got a jumpy screen and a flickering power light.
- The problem is severe and not specific to Civ. It is happening constantly.
- However, it only seems to crash my computer when I run Civ off the hard drive.
- I tried Final Copy 2 and that didn't do it. I tried Civ off the disks and
- still couldn't crash my computer. Thats the long of it. Short of it follows.
- What's the problem? ANY ideas? A virus? Semi-blown chip??
-
- I'm running a 500, orig. chips, 1.2 kick, GVP HD8+ (no it doesn't auto boot
- and yes I still get the problem), 3 megs (512 chip, 2.5 fast) etc etc
- I had thought it was a virus on my hard drive, but it doesn't autoboot so...
- I did a diagnostic on the memory...Not that. One thing that does happen is
- I get a disk not validated when I try to access my HD on bootup. And the
- problem (flickering) is worse when I'm accessing the hard drive.
- Hope you can help. Thanks in advance.
