- That "something" that happened may have been a static hit. When this
- happened to me, I had the exact opposite problem -- that is, the port could
- send but not receive. Replacing the "rs232 line receiver" chip fixed mine.

- Perhaps your "rs232 line driver" (part number 1488) is fried. Radio shack
- has these for $1.29 (cat no. 276-2520), so you might as well give it a shot.
