- Hello,
- I have to quickly aquire a robot for research into eye/hand
- coordination, structure from motion and neural net control for several
- students. This would have to be towards the cheaper end of the market
- or a second hand machine (approx 11k pounds). I would welcome general
- advice and experiences of specific models from end users.

- NB. I have looked through comp.robotics FAQ and archive.
- A rough spec would be:
- 1. preferably 6 degrees of freedom (5 acceptable if too costly).
- 2. repeatability approx of 0.1mm.
- 3. speed approx 1000mm/sec or better.
- 4. payload approx 2kg or better.
- 5. ability to program in world and tool coordinates.
- 6. ability to interface at a lower level for students interested
- in research into control algorithms.
- 7. ability to incrementally change path in realtime
- according to information from vision and other sensors.

- Of particular importance is the last point, I notice that most
- of the cheaper robots use rs232c interfaces, I wonder what kind of
- cycle times people are getting for this kind of sensor control loop.

- Models I have considered are: Scorbot-er VII, Movemaster EX RV-M1 etc.
- Has anyone got experience of these or could suggest others?
