- For a good time, those of you who use NCSA or Clarkson Telnet,
- try using the telpass program to add a user with a password
- of "quayle96" (minus the quotes, must be in lower case).
-
- This string checksums to 0 (modulo 256), and encrypts to the
- string "quayle96 !".
-
- Disclaimer: I'm sure the encryption bug was an honest mistake. I
- don't believe it adds credence to the oft-heard statement that
- "politics is the 8th network layer."
-
- Regarding the checksum value itself, well, draw your own conclusions.
-
- A very sharp person at our Support Center, Dawn Hewitt, discovered
- this anomoly. Knowing Dawn and her sense of humor, I don't belive
- it's possible to deduce her political affiliations from her choice
- of passwords. :-)
