  12. For a good time, those of you who use NCSA or Clarkson Telnet,
  13. try using the telpass program to add a user with a password
  14. of "quayle96" (minus the quotes, must be in lower case).

  16. This string checksums to 0 (modulo 256), and encrypts to the 
  17. string "quayle96 !".

  19. Disclaimer:  I'm sure the encryption bug was an honest mistake. I 
  20. don't believe it adds credence to the oft-heard statement that 
  21. "politics is the 8th network layer."

  23. Regarding the checksum value itself, well, draw your own conclusions.

  25. A very sharp person at our Support Center, Dawn Hewitt, discovered
  26. this anomoly.  Knowing Dawn and her sense of humor, I don't belive
  27. it's possible to deduce her political affiliations from her choice 
  28. of passwords.  :-)
