- You may want to talk to Frontier Technologies about their Super TCP
- product (includes both a Windows and a DOS Kernel, your choice
- which one(s) you want to install. Also includes many other nice
- features including a Windows based NNTP News Reader, EMAIL (direct
- or POP2 & 3), TELNET, TN3270, PING, SLIP, also has options for NFS,
- PPP, NetBIOS, etc. All this and its Winsock 1.1 compliant!
-
- About performance:
-
- From my machine (486/33, Intel EtherExpress 16 bit) to a
- Sun 4/470 I achieve much higher throughput on a binary transfer.
-
- On a PUT from my machine to the SPARC I saw a throughput of
- 165 KBytes/sec, and on the GET I achieved 101 KB/s.
-
- I repeated the test several times, so my files were working from
- my Smartdrive cache, with even better results:
-
- PUT: 193 KB/s
- GET: 179 KB/s
-
- And believe it or not, this is all from within Windows! So you can
- see, if its done right, you can achieve respectable FTP
- throughput even under Windows.
