- Let me correct my earlier statement. I did not test WFTP that comes with FTP
- software's newest release. I formally tested 2.05.
-
- I have played with 2.1, but I find that the Windows telnet performance is
- <9600 baud. By far, FTP's product has been the fastest DOS TCP/IP package I
- have ever used. However, they were very late in producing a true Windows
- implementation and the limited selection of Windows applications shipped.
- The FTP implementation is the biggest memory hog of the bunch.
-
- I the only formal test that I have done with the newest version for FTP was to
- run the eXceed X Window server on FTP's 2.1 and Chameleon 3.04. By far, X under
- Chameleon was faster. (Tested on a 20MHZ AT&T 6386E tower box with 8 MB ram,
- and a Starlan 10 NAU card.)
