- Yes, I realize that .BITNET is a fake domain. But there aren't all
- that many BITNET hosts, so technologically, a .BITNET domain is
- doable. As I understand BITNET, it is a store and forward network
- operating at 9600 baud. So, a message going from the Internet to
- BITNET should be inserted as near its destination as possible.

- There are also a lot of hosts that are dual-homed, on the Internet and
- BITNET.

- So why not have MX records whose preference value is based on the number
- of hops from the gateway machines?
