- HEELLLPPPP! I'm having a lot of problems configuring PC Route (the latest
- version - 2.2 I think) to enable BOOTP in a PC Lab. Here is a diagram of the
- current configuration :
-
- 159.28.1.1
- ------ SLIP 19.2Kb ---------- |
- |VAX |------------------------------------|PC Route|-------| PC Lab
- ------ 231.254 231.3 ---------- 30.1 | BOOTP
- BOOTP server
-
- PCs in the Lab send BOOTP requests but time out and fail. The Vax
- definitely gets the request (if you disable the machine's bootp entry an error
- is registered). I'm not sure whether the problem is:
- a) The Vax may not be sending out replies on the right subnet or
- b) the Router not routing the reply from the Vax
-
- Here is the PC Route log :
- ******* PCroute starting *******
- Interface 1 (ethernet)
- Address 159.28.30.1
- NetMask 255.255.255.0
- Flags 0000H

- The Ethenet Address 0000H

- From the Lab I can ping 159.28.30.1, 159.28.231.254 but not 159.28.231.3
- Why is this?
- Similarly from the Vax I can ping the Lab but not the Vax end of the SLIP line
- (159.28.231.254)
-
- This is one of the Multinet files on the Vax (I am standing in for the network
- administartor, hence my ignorance of Multinet):
