- I've tried running the snmp agents (snmp, snmp-midII and sun) with
- snm-1.1 and I can't seem to get any response from the requested system. I'm not
- even trying on a remote system, my request is for the same host I'm ruuning on!
- For example, if I use the "Set request" option from the host's glyph and select
- "Get" from the request window I get "(no values retrieved)" for ALL possible
- combinations of agent-group. Same thing occurs when I run from the prompt say:
- snm_cmd -a snmp-mibII -g system -n sysDescr -s, I get "no response from system".
- According to the user manual, this means the snmp agent is not running, but I
- know it's running. What about the snmp.hosts file? Should there be any special
- settings for my host? Aren't the default values good enough? There is not much
- information available on what the "read-community" and "write-community" field
- can or should be and what they entail...
-
- Any hint would be greatly appriciated!
- Thanks,
-
