  12.     I've tried running the snmp agents (snmp, snmp-midII and sun) with
  13. snm-1.1 and I can't seem to get any response from the requested system.  I'm not 
  14. even trying on a remote system, my request is for the same host I'm ruuning on!  
  15. For example, if I use the "Set request" option from the host's glyph and select
  16. "Get" from the request window I get "(no values retrieved)" for ALL possible
  17. combinations of agent-group.  Same thing occurs when I run from the prompt say:
  18. snm_cmd -a snmp-mibII -g system -n sysDescr -s, I get "no response from system".
  19. According to the user manual, this means the snmp agent is not running, but I
  20. know it's running.  What about the snmp.hosts file?  Should there be any special
  21. settings for my host?  Aren't the default values good enough?  There is not much
  22. information available on what the "read-community" and "write-community" field
  23. can or should be and what they entail...
