  21. Cause:  the LaserWriter II NTR does not calculate DDP checksums
  22. properly.  Macs do not bother verifying DDP checksums;  CAP does.  CAP
  23. is discarding the packets sent by the NTR on the reasonable assumption
  24. that they have been damaged in transit.
  25.  
  26. Cure:  upgrade to CAP 6.0 pl125.  You can disable DDP checksums
  27. entirely, but it's better to simply run atlook, atlooklws, lwsrv, and
  28. so forth with the -k option which selectively disables DDP checksum
  29. validation on a connection-by-connection basis.

  31. Other printers affected:  some Tektronix Phaser printers, and some QMS
  32. printers, also exhibit this problem.
  33.  
  34. Other steps required for fix:  if you are using a FastPath running
  35. K*Star as a gateway between Ethertalk and Localtalk, you must disable
  36. DDP checksum validation in K*Star.
