- Hi All,
-
- I am attempting to find a replacement I.C. for a Seagate ST-157N 40Mb
- hard disk which refuses to talk via SCSI. The drive starts up and seeks
- OK but attempting to communicate to it is impossible. I bought it cheap
- S/H as a external drive for a Mac. I suspect it has had the RS-232
- connector of the Mac plugged into the SCSI port (the box has the same
- DB-25 connectors) and the +/-15V of RS-232 has fried the chip.
-
- The info on the I.C:
-
- AVASEM
- V-8500-A
- 8941-A
- 11734-501
-
- It is a 44 PLCC package. I have access to techos who have replaced surface
- mount I.C's, but locating the I.C. is the problem, no-one in Australia has
- heard of it. Does anyone know anything about it? A source for replacements?
- It is the SCSI bus receiver, with inputs direct from the bus connector.
-
- Any info would be greatly appreciated. Please email it to:
- leigh@psychok.DIALix.oz.au or reply by mail to this posting.
-
- Thanks in advance
