- OK. I have an HP4 with the optional 500-sheet paper tray and an HP IIP
- with it's optional paper tray. My personal observations are (for my
- own equipment):
-
- * The actual "curl" on the IIP is greater that the 4 BUT it is a
- symmetrical curl, much like the paper had been rolled-up for a
- while
-
- * the curls on the HP4 are non-symmetrical: there is a slight, but
- noticable curl along the full top of the sheet, as well as several
- small, wavy curls down one side of the paper
-
- * The 500-sheet tray does not make a difference (no reduction in curling)
-
- * Envelopes tend to come out very nice because the side curls are on
- the "other" side of the feeder loop
-
- * The curls are less with heavier bond paper (naturally). My problem
- is (ethically) I must do alot of work with recycled paper, which is
- almost non-existent is the heavier weights.
-
- Bottom line: I prefer the HPIIP curl. It's easier to deal with. On the
- other hand, with a street price in the $1365 range (one company had
- a one-day only sale price of $1299 here in LA about two weeks ago)
- for the HP4, it's hard to groan about paper curl when the output is so great.
