  27. The Second International Workshop on Parallel Processing for Artificial Intelli-
  28. gence will be held in Chambery, France in conjunction with IJCAI-93.
  29.  
  30. In recent years we have seen the emergence of parallel machines. In spite of the
  31. wide acceptance of parallel processing as a major technology for modern  comput-
  32. ing,  only a few AI applications have been successfully implemented on  parallel
  33. machines.
  34.  
  35. The intent of this workshop is to bring together hardware architects, AI resear-
  36. chers,  and application engineers who are engaged in or interested  in  parallel
  37. artificial intelligence. Through key presentations and ample discussions,  it is
  38. hoped that the workshop will facilitate the exchange of ideas among  researchers
  39. and contributes to bridging the gap between hardware architects and AI research-
  40. ers.  The granularity of parallelism discussed at the workshop  will  range from
  41. coarse-grain to fine-grain parallel processing.

  43. The program committee invites submission of high quality contributions on  para-
  44. llelism in AI.  Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

  46. * Parallel Algorithms for AI 
  47.   Parallel Search, Problem Solving, Planning, Constraint-directed Reasoning, 
  48.   Decision Making, Natural Language Processing, Vision, etc.
  49.  
  50. * Parallel Inference Systems 
  51.   Parallel Deduction, Automated Theorem Proving, Concurrent Logic Languages, 
  52.   Implementations, Performance Evaluations, etc.
  53.  
  54. * Massive Parallelism for AI 
  55.   Massively Parallel Machines  (Architecture,  Benchmarks, etc.),  Spreading
  56.   Activation, Connectionism, Bulk Data Processing, etc.

  59. Please submit two (2) copies of a detailed abstract  (approx. 1500 words)  or  a
  60. full paper (limited to 5000 words) to each of the three workshop chairmen listed
  61. below (i.e., a total of six copies) by March 15, 1993. Please send, if possible,
  62. e-mail versions of your paper to the chairmen as well. All submitted papers will
  63. be reviewed by the workshop committee. 
  64. It is our intent to publish a workshop proceedings to be made  available  at the
  65. workshop.
