- I suspect that this is a PC program, and that the PC ".EXE" file was what was
- uploaded to the VAX. Why else would an "EGA" be relevant? If this is so,
- then you can't do that, period. You would have to get the PC source code
- (unlikely for purchased sofware), put that on the VAX, fix it up for the VAX
- environment, and rebuild and relink it on the VAX.
-
- If the above guesswork is correct, you can either fix up whatever ails the
- PC (too much background stuff?) or try to find some VAX software that does
- an equivalent function -- preferably something for free on the net. If the
- above guesswork is not correct, you should rephrase the question with a stack
- of specifics, like what is this program, what does it do, and where did it
- come from?
-
- On other subjects, there is the {{{{ stuff in your message. Looks like phone
- noise on a dial-in line. If so, one possible fix for that would be to dial
- up the computer (from home, I presume), then sit and wait 30 seconds or so to
- see if you get {{{{ garble; if you get {{{{ garble, log off, hang up, and dial
- back. With luck, the phone company will give you a clean line on the second
- or third or fourth try.
