  13.     aproximately 10 got the point that the item I sent:

  19.     "Kevin Mitnick" was someone who used "social
  20.     engineering" to con people into letting him get
  21.     access to DEC's VMS source code.

  23.     A simple example of this in real life is the
  24.     prison inmate who fakes a fax ordering his own
  25.     release.  Because people don't check the rules
  26.     and the wrong things get done.

  28.     Three people thought it was hilarious.  Two thought
  29.     it was sick and the others played along with it.

  32. 2.  At least three people asked for copies of the code
  33.     to do UUENCODE and UUDECODE for VMS.  At address
  34.     "WSMR-SIMTEL20.ARMY.MIL" is a UUDECODE.C and
  35.     UUENCODE.C in the VAX-MISC directory.  The files
  36.     are less than 6K each.

  38.     The last time I posted the UUCODE sources on here,
  39.     I discovered they were for Turbo-C on the PC.

  41.     These sources could be considered to be VAX
  42.     specific, and as such would not be all that long.
  43.     Perhaps less than 60 lines each.  This should
  44.     solve the problem of people needing these two
  45.     pieces of code.
