  14.                  I have a situation whereby a user has identified a loss
  15. of data on a magtape (the magnetic tape should contain data going back
  16. quite some time but the savesets on the tape only go back a few months).

  18. I can only assume that the tape had been initialised at some stage this
  19. is reinforced by the fact that the first saveset on the tape is not the
  20. start of a saveset.

  22. What I think has happened is that a backup to tape requested mounting a
  23. second (relative) volume and by mistake the same volume was loaded hence
  24. causing the tape to be initialized and this would explain the fact that the
  25. first saveset on the tape is not the beginning of the saveset.

  27. My question  is how can I recover data from the initialized tape ...
