- Here in Japan, we use VMS in both English and Japanese modes. There is a
- sparsely documented command, SET LANGUAGE, which allows us to switch between
- them. In Japanese mode, all system messages (that I've seen) come out in
- Japanese. Online HELP has also been translated into Japanese, and there are
- special RTL and DCL routines to help us deal with the multibyte character
- codes. Naturally, hardcopy documentation in both languages is also provided.

- So if it can be done for Japanese, I'm sure that a French version would also
- be available. Our only problem here is that the kanji code used as the native
- VMS code does not conform to our national standard, so while the system does
- support Japanese in principle, we can't send E-mail to anybody without using
- special (third party) conversion utilities. If any DEC people are reading
- this, I beg you to fix that.
