  14. I have observed as oddity in AUTHORIZE.  My feeling this is a known "bug" or
  15. "feature" in AUTHORIZE, but I thought I would share my experince with the rest 
  16. of you for its educational value.

  18. Here is what happened:
  19.  
  20. 1- Most of our files on the system (14 1.2 Gig, and 14 660 Meg disks) are owned
  21.    by UIC [200,1], which is names DATABASE.
  22.  
  23. 2- I needed to create an account for one of our subscribers, Arcadia Telephone
  24.    Company, so I went into AUTHORIZE, copied the account of Manilla Telephone
  25.    Company (MANILLA) into Arcadia Telephone (ARCADIA) for the purpose of
  26.    creating the new account.

  28. 3- I reset the Device/Directory and Pasword for ARCADIA.
  29.  
  30. 4- I then discovered that the acocunt name ARCADIA is not appropriate for this
  31.    purpose (due to internal policies and procedures), so I copied ARCADIA to
  32.    ARCADIATEL.
  33.  
  34. 5- I then reset the device/directory and password for the new account
  35.    ARCADIATEL. I then delted the old account ARCADIA.
  36.  
  37. 6- When done, I listed a diretory on my files, and discovered that they are all
  38.    owned by UIC [ARCADIATEL] instead of [DATABASE]. a Quick check revealed that
  39.    ALL files that were previously owned by [DATABASE] are now owned by
  40.    [ARCADIATEL]. Needless to say this was a source of alarm to me.

  42. 7- I concluded at this point that the Ideantifier [200,1] has somehow changed
  43.    names, from [DATABASE] to [ARCADIATEL].
  44.  
  45. 8- I went into AUTHORIZE, REMOVEd the identifier [ARCADIATEL], then I ADDed 
  46.    the identifier [DATABASE] as UIC [200,1]
  47.  
  48. 9- Now all files are again owned by DATABASE.
  49.  
  50.    I am curious as to what caused the [200,1] change names like you have seen
  51.    above.. Any ideas ?
