- File services are implemented at the MS-DOS file system redirector level.

- Disk services are implemented at the PC BIOS disk function call level. From
- MS-DOS's point of view, anything that it accesses via the BIOS disk function
- calls are locally connected disks.

- That's why you can "CHKDSK", "FORMAT" and a number of other things on
- a disk service drive, but not a file service drive.
