- MAIL stores the text of messages longer than 3 blocks in these separate files.
- The header information (From, To, Subject, etc.) is kept in the file MAIL.MAI.
- If you prefer, you can ask that MAIL keep all these files in a subdirectory
- by means of the MAIL command SET MAIL_DIRECTORY. The MAIL$xxx.MAI files
- are explained in the VMS Mail Utility User Manual in the section titled
- "Creating a MAIL Subdirectory for Large Messages". This section also explains
- the use of the SET MAIL_DIRECTORY command.
