On a VS3100 (poor as we are) we currently run MOTIF with 16 megs monochrome and 24 megs color.
Tuning included:
VMS 5.4-3: modified SWAPPER, idle processes will be swapped instead of shrinked
(as far as I understand). requires SYSGEN-parameter MMG_CTLFLAGS to be set to 255 (MODPARAMS.DAT). VERY pleasing effect ...
VERY high User-Workingsets (UAF): currently having good results with WSEXTEND of 15000. You won't get anything out off the best tuned system without giving the resources to the user (had to worry around for 6 month to get this one) ...
