- I've been plagued of late with trying to get my 3c503 board to use an
- external 10baseT transceiver and get Netware Requester and TCP/IP to
- talk over the same line at the same time.
-
- After much searching, digging and pleading, I peered through the
- 3c503.sys driver file, and noticed the string CONNECTOR DIX. Since this
- near the strings matching other Link Driver settings (mem, int,
- protocol, etc.) I guessed, tried it in my Link Driver list in NET.CFG
- and it worked. This parameter is not documented in any of my
- documentation.
-
- I've had Requester running by itself for quite some time now, so I moved
- on to getting TCP/IP installed and running (by itself, i.e. I commented
- out all Netware stuff in my CONFIG.SYS file and startup.cmd). This took
- awhile, but I seem to be able to ping places, telnet, ftp to and from my
- machine, use vt220.exe, etc.
-
- So, now to try to acheive IPX/IP coexistence. I followed the directions
- in the Novell Netware Requester for OS/2 v2.0 book in chapter 6 for
- getting coexistence. After finding a few errors in the documentation
- and pulling a few hairs, I've got ODINSUP seemingly binding to my 3c503
- driver, TCP/IP seems to be configured, and ping finds the various hosts,
- while slist finds all available netware servers. The problem: while I
- can apparently determine what machines are reachable, I can't access any
- of them in any way.
-
- Try to ftp or vt220 to a machine, and these programs wait until they
- timeout or I kill them. Try to login to or attach to a Netware server,
- and the server returns an "unknown error (0001)". Anyone gotten such a
- configuration to work? I'd appreciate knowing how -- config.sys,
- protocol.ini and net.cfg file would be most useful (and any other files
- you diddled with to make this all work).
-
- Hope some net.guru can help me out here. And thanks for the hints
- that've gotten me this far.
