- The company I work for has 2 local area networks. One network is
- token ring and is where the OS/2 machines live, the other is ethernet
- which is where all our Sun workstations are.
-
- We use a PS/2 Model 70 to bridge between the two networks. The Model 70
- is running:
-
- - OS/2 1.3
- - LAN Server 2.0 (running as an additional server)
- - IBM TCP/IP v1.2.1 (with the CSD applied I believe)
-
- We use the Model 70 to mount directories on our Sun file server to move
- files back and forth between the two networks (it's slow, but it works).
- There is no problem mounting and accessing directories on the Sun if you
- are working on the Model 70. However, if you try to access these mounted
- directories from a remote workstation (i.e. execute a "dir" command)
- via shared drives the following behavior occurs:
-
- - Only a subset of the files/directories appear. Other
- files/directories that exist are not listed.
- - Long numeric strings appear (e.g. 56723419) where the file
- name would normally be.
-
- I have noticed that freshly created directories will show up properly so
- the problem seems to involve the existing directories.
-
- This has me puzzled. Any suggestions?
