  14. No. Although I've believe you can get Pathworks for DOS to run
  15. in a DOS image, it will not operate correctly (without patching)
  16. in a standard VDM. Pathworks for OS/2 is a different story.
  17. Unfortunately Pathworks OS/2 support for OS/2 v2.0 is not all
  18. together at the moment because it is based on Lan Manager 2.1
  19. It can be made to run over a Lan Server/Requester configuration
  20. but this drastically increases the admin load and cost of the
  21. solution. I'm waiting for Lan Manager to support OS/2 v2.0, then
  22. (after a suitable DELAY) DEC should come through with the goods.
  23. EXCEPT I don't think we'll ever see a1mail/notes clients for OS/2
  24. coming from DEC unless they come to their senses and realise that
  25. YES, WE USERS RECKON THAT OS/2 IS A CORKER OF A NETWORK CLIENT

  36. NDIS certainly exists under OS/2, but I don't think anyone has yet
  37. implemented the packet driver concept.

  44. The PC/TCP stuff is good... rock solid but short a bit of
  45. functionality (like an NFS server) and has suffered a bit in the port
  46. from Unix. I can only make second-hand comments about IBM's TCP/IP...

  55. I love OS/2 v2.0, but in all honesty I still don't feel able to
  56. whole-heartedly recommend OS/2 on our site - mainly because of
  57. the Pathworks networking issue. Unfortunately it seems that DEC have
  58. got hold of the wrong end of a catch-22 argument... they won't
  59. seriously pursue OS/2 users because they haven't shipped enough
  60. Pathworks for OS/2 licences. Unfortunately they are ignoring the fact
  61. that they haven't shipped much worth buying yet (and its bloody 
  62. expensive)... unless you want to run OS/2 1.3 servers in a DEC
  63. environment (and I don't know why DEC would encourage you to do
  64. that since the VAX is meant to be the ultimate PC server *BIG grin*)

  84. All I (not my company) want for Christmas is ... OS/2 v2.0 
  85. support in Lan Manager 2.2 ... and LanMan 2.2 support in DEC
  86. Pathworks ... and MacTCP free with all my new Macs ... and ...
