- I have a Gateway 2000 486 33 MHz with a SpeedStar Plus (1 MB) VGA card
- which is based on the Tseng ET4000. I want to be able to use SVGA (256
- colors, 1024x768) under OS/2.
-
- I had tried the driver for the Orchid card which is supposed to be Tseng-
- based from hobbes (I think it was called proii8.zip) and followed the
- directions. I ended up with a messed up monitor after OS/2 booted and
- had no choice but to re-install the operating system. I couldn't get
- get a readable screen back.
-
- My questions are:
-
- Was the Orchid driver the right one for me (my monitor is the Crystal Scan,
- NI)?
-
- And, how do I protect myself from something going wrong again? I don't want
- to have to re-install.
-
- I'm a little timid now about using one of these new drivers.
-
- Thanks for any help.
