- There are lots of tracks on the tape. Each pass is formatting a different
- track. Alternate tracks should be being formatted in the reverse direction.
- I doubt that the tape is rewinding. If the software is only formatting each
- track in the forward direction, it is poorly written.

- The CMS DOS software on Jumbo 120 takes 55 minutes to format a DC2120 tape,
- provided it has no bad spots on the tape. If the software has to make some
- blocks as bad, it will take even longer.
