- Stephen,
- The problem you are experiencing is a common one. I have had the
- same problem with my Gateway '486DX2-66 Local Bus system. The
- problem happens to be with the refresh rate of the gateway 15 inch
- monitor being setup as 72 Hz. The default 8514A driver for OS/2
- (which is how the ATI Graphics Ultra is recognized) only syncs at
- 60 Hz. What you need to do, assuming you did not Kill OS/2 off the
- hard drive, is boot DOS from your supplied disks, stick in the ATI
- Graphics Ultra Drivers disk and run INSTALL.EXE. from there change
- your monitor configurations from the "Gateway Crystal Scan 1572FS
- ....." to "Custom configuration", then it asks which video mode, go
- through all of them and select 60HZ...... After you are finished
- save Configuration to EEPROM, and reboot OS/2....All should be well
- again!
-
- Have a happy holiday.
