  23. I agree that we should make an effort to stick to the charter of the
  24. newsgroup or the noise level just gets too high.  However, you can't
  25. expect everyone's opinion of what is appropriate to match yours every
  26. time... correction, you can expect it if you choose -- you can "expect"
  27. anything you like... you can expect everyone who reads your postings
  28. to send you $100.00... you won't get it, but you can "expect" it.

  30. I was a contributor to the original thread, but I think that the
  31. thread became a little borderline regarding the charter of this
  32. newsgroup... not totally out in left field, but starting to digress,
  33. perhaps.  When you see this happening, please do not panic and
  34. please do not blow up.  If you must comment, please do not flame.
  35. Most flamage does not impress me... relatively few of us on the net
  36. are any good at it (just for the record, I do not count myself as 
  37. one who is "good at it").

  41. P.S.  I find rn's "k" key very handy in such cases.  Most threads
  42.       will die quickly if ignored.  I haven't seen it in the
  43.       relatively civilized os2 groups, but I have seen flame wars
  44.       completely overshadow the original off-charter thread if not
  45.       the whole damn group to no purpose.
