- The new os/2 2.1 beta comes with paradise video drivers. The are not
- seemless, but they come in 1024, 800, 640 resolutions at 256 colors,
- with a special 640x480x256 driver for 512k cards. The 640 driver
- works with my speedstar 24x video card, but I loose sync at 800x600.
- I still had to generate the svgadata file in a dos box after running
- '24xmode monitor' to get the sync right in any mode.
-
- The win 3.1 support almost works well in the beta, but it must have taken
- me an hour to get winos2 3.1 because I installed the beta over 2.0 and
- the system.ini file for winos2 got messed up. Also, the beta has
- trapped on me 3 times as I exited windows ( about %5 of the time ).
- But on the good side, the 24bit color speedstar video drivers worked
- well under winos2, so fractal paint (which was why I wanted 386 enhanced
- mode) looks very stunning.
-
- Looking through the second device driver disk, I saw tseng drivers,
- trident drivers, western digital(paradise) drivers, and what I guess to
- be ati drivers among some things I didn't recognize.
