  23. It is my understanding, based on stuff I read in the README.NOW file on
  24. the Nov PDK CD, that if your CD player is on the short list of supported
  25. drives, then you *can* install directly from the CD.  You still have to
  26. make, I think, two floppies, but after that you can just pull the stuff
  27. in from the CD.  This should also work if your drive is listed as
  28. supported in the "os2cdrom.zip" file.

  30. I just ordered the thing.  Some comments/questions:
  31.     1) How does this version compare/differ from the one on the PDK?
  32.     2) The person who took my order said that this beta had become
  33.        available 12/21.  Not that it matters much, but the net has been
  34.        saying 12/28.  Are we sure we are talking about the same thing?
  35.     3) I got the file "os2cdrom.txt" from hobbes.  It seems to say
  36.        that you can use any (well, say, Hitachi or Sony) CD drives
  37.        with OS/2, simply by using DEBUG to patch the name of your
  38.        drive into one of the driver files.  Does this mean that I
  39.        can use my non-SCSI Sony drive (CDU 7205) in this way?
  40.        Notes about this file:
  41.         a) Despite the similarity in name, this file has little
  42.            to do with the "os2cdrom.zip" file.
  43.         b) This file bills itself as "how to use non-Toshiba CD
  44.            drives under OS/2".
