  13. Sorry to have left you all hanging.  I only know that the 1542C has
  14. been announced and that it will have support for disks > 1GB built in.

  16. I called Adaptec a couple of weeks ago to check on a PROM upgrade for
  17. my board, and the tech support person mentioned the new one.  It was
  18. announced in INFO WORLD about three weeks ago, and mentioned in
  19. comp.periphs.scsi around the same time.  I wasn't in the market for a
  20. new controller, so didn't register what's different about it.

  22. My guess is that aside from the PROMS, it might use new chips (to
  23. reduce production costs) and maybe have some on-board buffering.  But,
  24. aside from that, there's not much that one could add to the 1542B.
