- I have to disagree with this. My system is a 386dx-40 with only 4M. I
- installed without reading this group or the FAQ first, and I installed the
- HPFS. IBM's docs neglected to tell me that I needed 6M to run HPFS, so I had
- to re-install.
-
- What I have noticed is that it seems to take a long time to start up after a
- reboot, but I don't know if this is inherent in OS2, or if it just my system's
- lack of RAM. I typically run about 3 tasks and I haven't been too bothered by
- amount of time to switch between tasks.
-
- On those days it does annoy me, all I have to do is think of the alternatives:
- switching back to MS-DOG and Windoze, or a buggy Uni* clone. Frankly, I am
- quite content and pleased with OS2. The only problem I have had is 1 comm
- package that wouldn't run under WinOS2 (when I tried to run it full screen, it
- would totally lock up the system).
-
- In the month I have been reading this group, I have not seen anyone say that
- they tried running OS2 with less than 8M and that it wouldn't run. I have seen
- several people *say* that it wouldn't run, but I haven't seen anyone say it
- didn't run *for them* !! I'm saying that it does run, and runs well for ME!
