- I would like to have 256 colors with VGA. Windows can do it, so why can't I
- have it in OS/2 v2?
-
- Actually, we are probably just going to use XGA if I can't find 256 colors
- on VGA. This will mean that our users will have to shell out extra money to
- upgrade to XGA if they only have VGA. Nah, they'll just not use the
- product.
-
- Hmm. Maybe I installed os2 wrong. Well, let's just haul out the gazillion
- disks and reinstall the sucker, hoping that benevolent Christmas spirits
- will work a miracle.
-
- There are a couple of things that bug me about all of this. First off, the
- os2 package we have comes with a few thin booklets that have about as much
- real meat as an anorixic turkey (in keeping with the season...). So, I turn
- to the 'Master Help Index' for guidance. It tells me exactly what to do;
- there seems to be a solution to my problems. When I do what it told me to
- do, I could not do it. The 'Master Help Index' told me to look for a
- 'Screen' page in the 'System' icon of the 'System Setup' folder. Well,
- there is a 'System Setup' folder and there is a 'System' icon. But there is
- no 'Screen' page. Does ANY one have a screen page? Am I the only one who
- doesn't?
- Why did the 'Master' tell me to do something that could not be done? Why
- did not the 'System' icon tell me why it could not do something that the
- Master said it could do? (Where is the Doctor when you need him?)
- There are some serious design problems here that the folks in IBM should
- have covered. Obviously the product is half baked.
- 1) Assuming that my os2 is properly installed, and if ibm decided to give
- only one configuration for pixel depth, they should have given the maximum
- that the device could provide.
- 2) Don't promise me to do something that you can't do.
- 3) If you can't do something that you say that you could do, tell me why
- it can't be done.
-
- I am sure that, in terms of problems, I have only scratched the tip of the
- iceburg.
