- You're absolutely right. However, the computers we've got were >already<
- designed, and economics dictate that we've gotta work with them for a year
- or so (perhaps more). Turning it off is a great idea if it's just a client,
- and it won't be in use at all overnight. However, if your PC (or computer)
- is also a server, and you have to leave it on, perhaps an investment in one
- of those screen-saving/energy-saving monitors would be worthwhile (it detects
- inactivity and shuts off the monitor -- much better than those silly software
- screensavers).

- Now if only hardware designers would put on the desktop what we've had in
- portables for years -- hard drives that shut off after X seconds of inactivity,
- 3v CPUs, perhaps even a keyboard that closes its circuit only when you type
- a key (so that, say, 70% of the time the keyboard isn't drawing any power
- at all), etc...
