  11. I've had the opportunity to have a good look at the OS/2 2.1 beta.

  13. Notables:

  15. - good SVGA support. I had to do the install, then run the Selective install
  16. for SVGA only and it prompted me to choose between 640x480x256, 800x600x256,
  17. 1024x768x256 and a couple of others for my Trident 8900c.

  19. - C-ROM support: Toshiba, Sony, Hitachi, Panasonic, Texel(never heard of
  20. them), CD Technologies, IBM and NEC.

  22. - SCSI support. Adaptec - looks like everything from 1510 - 1744, IBM PS/2
  23. SCSI, DPT PM2011 and 2012, and a whole pack of Future Domain adaptors: 1660,
  24. 1670,1680, msc700, 850IBM, 860, 870, 880, 700EX.

  26. - Printers. Lots of them. The HP DJ500, 500C, 550C, LJ4 and LJ4 PS standout.
  27. There is also a Panasonic KXP-2123 in Epson LQ860 mode driver.....was this a
  28. problem before?

  30. The WPS is noticeably faster.

  32. The FAX/PM applet is nice - though limited. Haven't got it to work with my
  33. Supra yet, but I have only tried one driver of the several on offer.

  36. Win-OS/2 3.1 runs in stabdard or enhanced mode. I have not been able to change
  37. the full screen one in the command prompts - it lacks the Win-OS/2 Settings
  38. button and has the DOS Settings button instead - but any migrated Win-OS/2 app
  39. will have the Win-OS/2 settings button and you can change it there. When you
  40. check out Help, About Progam Manager, it say that Win-OS/2 is running in 386
  41. Enhanced Mode.

  43. When I tried to run an OS/2 command.com in a DOS window under a Program Manger
  44. runnig seamless on the WPS....my system locked up solid. I thought I might be
  45. pushing my luck a bit there. Seamless DOS under seamless Windows might be
  46. asking a bit much. Especially since it is completely unnecessary.
