- Ok, think here now. Let's just say that OS/2 is selling at a rate of
- 300,000 copies a month. So, in October, 300,000 copies were sold. They
- want $20 for each copy, thats $6,000,000. Ok, to us, thats a big
- number. Now, think of the mainframes that IBM sells. I'm sure that
- there is a mainframe that is about to be sold right now that costs at
- least that much, maybe more. So, OS/2 in general is not a short term
- money making project for IBM, it is very long term. The same thing is
- true with their personal computers. I don't remember the exact numbers,
- but I believe that well over 50% of IBM's profits are from mainframe
- sales and maintenance, software, etc. So, the (extreme over estimate
- of) $6,000,000 is peanuts to them. (I believe they net in the billions
- every year)
