  26. Hold on!  Please!  I, too, am exasperated over the performance of the
  27. ET4000 drivers, but let us not hurry to alienate one of the people most
  28. likely to be able to help us!  The Winspeed ET4000 drivers represent a
  29. substantial improvement over the stock drivers from Tseng.  Thus, we
  30. can hope that speedups are forthcoming or will become available.

  32. I'm a little surprised since I have been holding out some hope that Binar
  33. and Diamond Computer Systems (since I have a SpeedStar) would be able to
  34. help me.  To find that these incredibly slow drivers come from Binar
  35. and look sick compared to the Binar-written, Diamond-tweaked Windows
  36. "Turbo" drivers is disquieting, but the facts aren't all in, yet.  
  37. (Actually, Scott, I think PM performance is fair -- better than any
  38. 16-bit driver I tried -- and windowed VIO and VDM sessions are unaccept-
  39. ably slow).  Perhaps this first cut will be improved upon in OS/2 V2.1
  40. -- I hope so, these drivers are marginal for me, but the alternatives 
  41. are too feature poor.

  43. Worse, maybe Scott will tell us that the present speed cannot be improved
  44. on -- difficult to believe at this point, having compared the stock 
  45. ET4000 windows drivers with the Diamond Turbo drivers, but possible.
  46. In this case, we need to be ditch ET4000 SVGA's in favor of something 
  47. faster or we need to ditch OS/2 as badly done.

  49. Another bad alternative is for Scott to tell us to get lost.  In which
  50. case... well, no need to get ugly if there's no need to get ugly :-).
